Does AI Change How We Value Games?

Does AI Change How We Value Games?

I don’t think I would feel offended simply because a game I love was made with AI.

To me, using AI to improve production efficiency—or even building an AI-native workflow—is becoming an inevitable direction for the creative industry. Games have always been made through evolving tools, and I’m interested in how AI can reduce repetitive work and give creators more space to experiment, prototype, and iterate.

At the same time, as a trained artist, I deeply value human labor, craftsmanship, and authorship. There is something meaningful about knowing that an artist spent years developing their visual language, taste, and sensitivity, and that these experiences eventually became part of the work I’m experiencing.

So for me, the question is not simply whether AI was used. It is what role AI played, what role humans played, and where the creative intention came from.

I’m comfortable with AI as a tool, collaborator, or even an integral part of an AI-native creative pipeline. But I would be more skeptical if efficiency became the only goal, or if AI were used to replace human creative labor without respecting the people, knowledge, and artistic traditions that made those outputs possible.
